In this talk, I shall try to give a survey over one central research topic — noncommutative maximal inequalities — in the newly appeared research field 'noncommutative real analysis', which could be regarded as a quantum analogue of classical real analysis, including noncommtuative harmonic analysis, noncommutative ergodic theory and quantum probability etc.
